Xero’s UK Online Bill Payments Go Global

Xero’s UK Online Bill Payments Go Global

Paying suppliers is essential to running any business—it’s just as critical as getting paid. It keeps cash flow steady and gives you a clear picture of your finances.

But let’s face it: managing accounts payable isn’t always smooth sailing. Over half of small businesses spend more than four hours each month just handling payments. Add international suppliers into the mix, and things can get even trickier.

That’s why Xero partnered with Crezco, an FCA-authorised open banking provider, to launch a streamlined bill payments solution for UK small businesses. Since 2023, Xero users in the UK have been able to manage and pay bills directly within the platform—saving time, minimising errors, and keeping cash flow crystal clear. You can even pay multiple bills at once without ever leaving Xero.

Now Introducing: International Bill Payments

You asked, and Xero delivered. After successful beta testing, international bill payments are now available for all eligible users. This update makes it easier than ever for UK-based businesses to manage global payments, without the headaches of juggling exchange rates or extra accounts.

With international payments, you can now:

  • Pay bills in 25+ currencies

  • Send payments to 180+ countries

  • Access competitive exchange rates with no hidden fees

Even better, there’s no need for e-wallets, foreign currency accounts, or virtual IBANs. Payments are made directly from your UK bank account, and your overseas suppliers get paid promptly in their local currency.

“At Azotic Technologies Ltd, we embrace innovation in science and in how we work. Using Xero to manage supplier payments has improved accuracy, saved us hours each week, and significantly cut FX fees—saving us thousands.”
Kerry Whattam, Azotic Technologies Ltd

Getting Started is Simple

If you're on a Xero Business Edition plan that supports multi-currency, you’re ready to roll:

  2. Connect your bank account and verify your business details with Crezco. This only takes a few minutes.

  3. Once verified, you’re all set to start making international payments straight from Xero.

There’s no subscription fee or charges for adding users—just a small fee per transaction when using the online bill payments feature.
